Controlaccount puts the kettle on for Forest Dog Rescue

Each month, Controlaccount colleagues put their excellent tea drinking skills to good use by raising money for local charities. April's chosen charity was Forest Dogs Trust based in Kidderminster. Forest Dog Rescue is a small, local charity which looks after unwanted, abandoned and mistreated dogs from across the Midlands with a focus on finding new, loving homes.

So far this year, they have re-homed 131 dogs.  The charity is 100% reliant on donations and sponsorship in order to carry out their work so they were thrilled to receive a donation of £85 from Controlaccount Plc’s monthly ‘coffee pot collection’ – an initiative put together by Operations Manager, Carla Knights.

Carla explains, “Earlier in the year, Controlaccount directors kindly installed a hot drink vending machine at the offices to provide colleagues with complimentary hot drinks throughout the day, replacing the old machine where we all paid for our refreshments. As most of us had already budgeted for our daily drinks, we thought it would be a lovely idea to donate the money that we would have spent on the old coffee machine to a local charity. April’s charity was Forest Dog Rescue which is a great cause helping our  four-legged friends.”

Shelter manager Emma Shaffery said: “Forest Dog Trust provides much-needed care and a safe haven to unwanted, abandoned and mistreated dogs that came from all walks of life – from the pound, from private homes where people can’t cope. We looked after 316 dogs in 2018. We also help other charities so we take on greyhounds when they finish racing, and also take in working dogs from over in Ireland. We can’t do our work without donations and sponsorship so we are grateful to Controlaccount for their support.”

Each month Controlaccount colleagues select a different local charity to support – previous recipients have been St Paul's Hostel in Worcester which looks after the homeless and May's chosen charity is Touchstones Child Bereavement Support which pledges to be there for any bereaved child and young person in North East Worcestershire.
