Disappointing figures for UK sectors’ Days Beyond Terms

December 2019 statistics for payment habits in the UK are disappointing with several regions and sectors demonstrating some worrying payment behaviour; the overall average Days Beyond Terms (DBT) for UK sectors increased by 1.7 days.

15 of 22 sectors monitored were shown to have increased their payment terms. Particularly affected was the agricultural and farming sector where DBT increased by 5.6 days. IT and Comms also struggled, with an overall DBT of 18.5 days (a 5 day increase on last quarter).

There was good news with better performances noted for the Public Administration sector. DBT for this sector stands at 7.1 days, a further reduction of 5.1 days. Business Admin and Support clocked in at -4.3 days with Energy supply at -3.8 days.
